Thomas J. Johnson Sr., 69, life long resident of West Keansburg and Hazlet Twsp, passed away on Friday January 22nd, in Lake Chapala Mexico. He was born and raised in Keansburg, prior to moving to Hazlet. Thomas was a Retired Captain for the Hazlet Twsp Police from 1967-1996, was the founder of Johnson/T.J.J. Trucking Inc., past Fire Chief of the West Keansburg Fire Company and past Fire Chief for Hazlet Twsp. Member of NJ exempt Fireman's Association. Member of the NJ State Fire Chief Association, a member of the Bayshore Task Force, Charter Member and 1st President of the Hazlet PBA 189 and graduate of the FBI Academy. Thomas was pre deceased by his daughter Cheryl A. Johnson-Susino in 2002. Surviving is his mother Louise M. Johnson of Keansburg, former wife and mother of his children Patricia R. Johnson of West Keansburg, his son Thomas "TJ" Johnson Jr. of Keansburg, and 2 daughters Cindy A. Johnson - O'Brien of West Keansburg and Patricia J Johnson - Lazzaro of West Keansburg, his brother Francis Johnson of Middletown, 8 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in Toms honor on Saturday February 6th at 9:15AM, at St. Ann's Church Keansburg. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis Tennessee. Letters of condolences can be sent to www.jacquelinemryanfh.com Jacqueline M.
