Ida Amelia Hammell Ozol, 104, of Lavallette, NJ, died Friday, December 28, 2018 in Lakewood, NJ. Born in Sparta, NJ, she lived in Union, NJ and summered in Lavallette, NJ from the 1960’s until moving there permanently in 1992. Ida received her Bachelor’s Degree from Trenton St. College and her Master’s Degree from Kean University. She was a School Librarian at Kawameeh Junior High in Union, NJ for many years before her retirement. Ida was a member of Townley Presbyterian Church, Union, NJ, Suburban Golf Club, Union, NJ, and the American Association of University Women She was an avid Bridge player and, while in her 80’s, taught computer courses at Senior Net. Ida was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Rudolph J. Ozol, in 2011, and her siblings, Lewis Hammell, Jr., Dorothy Peters and Clara Brehme. She is survived by her children, James Ozol and his wife Phyllis of Toms River, Barbara Labatt and her husband Blair of San Antonio, TX, ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A special thanks to Lela Todd, Ida’s caregiver for many years. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 5-7pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 706 Grand Central Ave., Lavallette, NJ. Burial to take place Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Sparta Presbyterian Cemetery, Sparta, NJ.
