Lauren Ventimiglia

It is with great sorrow that the family of Lauren Ventimiglia, originally of Wayne, NJ, announces that she passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the age of 41. Lauren dedicated her life to education. Upon graduation from the University of Scranton, she became an elementary school teacher in her hometown of Wayne, and later taught in Paris, France, where she had spent a semester abroad. She was universally loved by her young students. After teaching for several years, Lauren decided to further her education, earning a double-masters in International Relations & Diplomacy at the American Graduate School of International Relations & Diplomacy in Paris, and Diplomacy and Strategic Negotiation at the Université de Paris Sud XI, Sceaux, France. Lauren was passionate about education development and used her degrees to address education globally, in particular promoting education in conflict-affected countries and womens’ education in French speaking African nations; working for a time in Tunisia, Kenya, and touring throughout sub Saharan Africa. She worked with organizations including the African Development Bank, FAWE (the Forum for African Women Educationalists), ADEA (the Association for the Development of Education for Africa), UNICEF, and UNESCO. Lauren called Paris home for over a decade, and loved being “Tante Lauren” to her nephew, teaching him in French every chance she could. Lauren loved spending time with the young children of close friends and relatives, and her energy was infectious. Lauren will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her parents Dr. Anthony and Joan Ventimiglia, her sister Danielle, her brother David, Sister-In-Law Lisa, and nephew George, and her brother Paul and his fiancée Teena as well as many relatives and close friends. The arrangements are under the auspices of Timothy E. Ryan and the staff at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 706 Grand Central Ave. Lavallette, NJ.
