Obituary
William D. Zylinski, born November 17, 1941, in Newark, N.J., was the son of Anne and William F. Zylinski. William (Bill) graduated from Newark College of Engineering in 1963 with a degree in mechanical engineering. William and Audrey Anne Bailey were married August 6, 1966. Bill enjoyed a career in mechanical engineering that spanned 36 years with LILCO (Long Island Lighting Company), retiring in 1999 as a chief engineer in charge of fossil fuel electricity production. Bill lived, worked, and raised his children in East Norwich, Long Island, N.Y., but his heart was always in Lavallette, N.J. Bill and his father proudly built their summer house in Lavallette by hand in 1951. Bill and Audrey retired to Lavallette in 1999 where Bill proudly served as the President of the Lavallette Planning Board, a Lavallette Councilman, an EMT and Engineer for Lavallette First Aid Squad, and as a member and Engineer for the Lavallette Yacht Club. Bill loved to cruise Barnegat Bay with his wife Audrey, watching his children and grandchildren sail and race in local regattas. Bill, Daddy, Gramps, as his family called him, is survived by his wife Audrey of 52 years, his four children, William W. Zylinski and wife Alison of Lavallette, N.J., Clarissa Sakowicz and husband Gregg of Lavallette, N.J., David Zylinski and wife Megan of Amity Harbor, N.Y., and Laura Zylinski of Toms River, N.J., nine grandchildren Tyler, Luke, Summer, Sydney, Morgan, Logan, Sage, Sienna, and Sailor, and his sister Carol Devine of Manahawkin, NJ, and his beloved dog Amber. The family will receive family and friends from 12 - 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, at Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 706 Grand Central Ave., Lavallette, N.J. 08735.
