Daniel A. Dufford, 66 of Oceanport, died Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at home. He was born in Jamaica, NY. Daniel was an accomplished thoroughbred racehorse trainer at Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport. He has trained many stake winners as well at “Rumptious”; N.J. Thoroughbred Horse of the Year. Following his training career he moved into the racing office at Monmouth Park where he started as an official and eventually became stakes coordinator. He was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Margaret Dufford. Surviving is his wife, Charlene; his step-son, Michael Natale and step-daughter, Alyssa Williams; his brother and sister in law, Gerald and Kathy Dufford and their children, Kathleen Menendez and Kevin Dufford; and his sister, Diane Dufford. Damiano Funeral Home in Long Branch is in charge of the arrangements. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Monmouth Park Racetrack. Memorial donations may be made to Second Call Thoroughbred Adoption and Placement, P.O. Box 113, Helmetta, NJ 08828.
