Obituary
Frances Henrietta Hults, nee Rohbeck was born September 20, 1929 in Long Branch and died peacefully at home on October 16, 2017. The place she had known since she was 13 and did not want to leave until the day she died. She was granted her wish. Frances was a graduate of Long Branch High School Class of 1947 and a resident of West Long Branch her entire life. She married Eugene Hults at the young age of 18 and they would have reached their 70th Anniversary next March. She remained a homemaker most of her life except for a brief time when she worked as a telephone operator at Monmouth Medical Center and was loved for her beautiful speaking voice. During the time she was raising her children, she was active in the community especially the West Long Branch Community Center and later appearing in a video of the history of West Long Branch. Fran was also a lifelong active member of the Grand Order of the Eastern Star, Wall Chapter #5 and Old First United Methodist Church of West Long Branch. Her love of children was her true avocation taking in many foster babies awaiting adoption through Family and Children Services. She would care for or help neighbors with their children and then as grandmothers caring daily for her grandsons while her daughter worked. While being an avid sports fan, she loved watching her son John play baseball and then football which took him to Kutztown University. Then her grandsons Eric and Evan soccer and baseball games, even traveling to Cooperstown to watch them play and coach. Fran was predeceased by her parents, Henrietta and John Rohbeck and her stepmother, Josephine Rohbeck. Surviving are her beloved husband, Eugene Hults; her daughter, Louise Waterman and partner Rich Bastian of Little Silver; her son, John Hults and wife Pam of Pennsylvania; her beloved grandchildren, Eric Waterman and wife Lisa; Evan Waterman and wife Emma; Kasey Hults and Ethan Hults of Pennsylvania; 4 great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Brayden, Dylan and Alex; 2 dear nieces, Janie and Leslie; many cousins and friends. A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, October 20 from 4 pm until the time of the service at 7 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue in Long Branch. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Monmouth County SPCA, 260 Wall Street, Eatontown, NJ 07724.
