Laurence A. Hecker

Laurence A. Hecker passed away May 18, 2017 in Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, NJ. He was 77 years old. Larry was born and raised in Newark and moved to Toms River in his late twenties. He graduated from Rutgers Law School, where he was a Henry Rutgers scholar and president of the Law Review. He started his own law practice with offices in Keyport and Toms River. He later practiced solely in Toms River and was the township attorney for several years, before retiring in 2012. He loved traveling and spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Aaron Hecker and Etta Schneider Hecker Sickel, and his brother Stephen Hecker. He is survived by his niece Lisa Morrison and her husband Louis Arzola, and his nephew Douglas Hecker and his wife Cathy Lightner Hecker. He is also survived by his great-nieces Kathleen and Karen Morrison. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday June 17th, 2017 at First Assembly of God Church, 800 Bay Ave., Toms River, NJ 08753. The family would like to thank the volunteers from the church and Haven/Beat the Street for all their help.
