Charles Oliver McNulty Obituary

Charles O. McNulty 94 of Manchester NJ died on Monday, May 3, 2021. He was born in New Haven CT on June 6, 1926. He lived on Staten Island NY until retirement when he moved with his wife to Manchester. He served in the Navy during WWII and participated in numerous convoys and the Battle of Okinawa. He thought the Japanese were tenacious fighters and was grateful they were now our allies. He earned Bachelor and Master’s degrees from the University of Chicago. He taught in the New York City High Schools as a teacher of Social Studies for 13 years and as an Assistant Principal for 21 years. He was the author of three books. He was an avid world traveler, visiting Europe many times with his wife as well as Africa, Asia and South America. He also enjoyed a Fulbright Scholarship in India. He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Rowena Johnson McNulty, a brother, Sean and a sister, Lily. He is survived by a brother, Emmett of Newport News Virginia, a son and daughter-in-law, Brian C. and Camille of Calgary Alberta, Canada and a daughter and son-in-law, Rowena C. McNulty and Vincent Baglivo of Sparta NJ. He is further survived by four grandchildren, Jacqueline and fiancé Greg Dobbelsteyn, Dr. Alexander McNulty, Liam Baglivo and partner Rebecca Grattan and Aidan Baglivo and a dear friend, Mrs. Helen Wirsing. Burial occurred at BG Williams C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate his life at his home on Saturday, May 22, 2021 between 1:00 and 7:00.
