Agnelo Gomes, a long time resident of Voorhees, NJ passed away on May 15, 2020. He was 73 years old. Agnelo was born on June 1st, 1946 in Margao, Goa, India. He graduated from Victoria Julbilee Technical Institute (VJTI) with a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering. One of proudest accomplishments was becoming the inaugural union leader for Zuari Agro Chemical LTD. He immigrated to the United States in 1977. Agnelo loved living in the United States while also treasuring frequent visits back to Goa to visit friends and family. In many ways, his life is an embodiment of the American Dream. He was the beloved husband of Maria Imaculada C. Gomes (nee Pires) since 1980. He was also the loving father of Jason Gomes (Kathryn), Charlotte Tenaro (Patrick Reilly), Stephanie Gomes, Jeffrey Gomes, Kyle Gomes and Brian Gomes and the devoted grandfather of Gianna and Isabella Tenaro, Joseph, Amelia and Cassidy Gomes. He was the dear brother of Ermalinda Dias and Esperanza Fernandes. He is predeceased by his parents José Francisco and Marianna Vitoria Gomes, his brother Salvador Gomes (Carmen), and his son-in-law John Tenaro. He was dearly loved by all his nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Throughout his life, he made many sacrifices for his children and taught them the value of hard work and a strong education. In his later years he loved spending time with his grandchildren and his granddogs, Daisy and Blue. Mr. Gomes owned and operated his own Engineering Firm for over 30 years, Agnelo Gomes Associates in Philadelphia. He was a founding member of the Goan Association of New Jersey and was passionate about celebrating Goan culture in this country. He coached soccer for the Voorhees Soccer Association for 20 years; he was a pillar in the community. He also continued to send support to orphans and the less fortunate in Goa throughout his life. Funeral Services for Mr. Gomes will be held privately.
