Anna Onofrio Obituary

Onofrio, Anna (nee Tutkus) of Marlton, NJ. She was born to Casper and Patronella Tutkus on August 25, 1922. Anna graduated from South Philadelphia High School for Girls in 1940, Abington Memorial Hospital for Nurses in 1944 and served in the US Navy Corp for Nurses from 1945 to 1948. She met the love of her life in the Navy and was married to Ralph Joseph Onofrio on August 2, 1948. Anna was a strong willed person and lived her life with integrity and honor. She was an avid gardener, a gourmet cook, an experienced bowler to the age of 89, and an avid sports fan, particularly as an enthusiastic supporter of her children’s varied athletic endeavors. Her favorite teams were the Phillies and the Eagles and she barely tolerated the Yankees because her husband was a lifelong fan. She was lovingly devoted to her family as a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending many summers with her family on Long Beach Island crabbing and fishing, and welcomed new members as her large family expanded over the years. She was known for her love of entertaining and celebrating many life events with friends and relations. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Ralph J. Onofrio, MD and her twelve children: Teresa(Raymond), Michael(Janice), Nicholas(Helen), Ralph, Dominic(Susan), Anita(Mark), Mark (Roseanne), Leo(Denise), Matthew(Jacqueline), Virginia(Joseph), Christine, Raymond(Kathryn), 24 grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Regina Mae, a grandson, George, and her loving sisters, Lillian and Patronella. Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Tuesday May 9th from 10-11 AM at the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 100 Willowbend Rd., Marlton, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:15 AM Tuesday at the church. Inurnment will be private at Locustwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Camden Catholic High School or to Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice.
