Lydia A. Rocco Marlton, New Jersey Obituary

Lydia A. Rocco

Lydia Ann Rocco A 1962 graduate of the Holy Cross High School in Delran, Lydia went on to graduate from Rutgers University in Camden with a BA in Social Work in 1966. Lydia met and married the love of her life James Rocco Jr of Bristol PA in 1966 and went on to found their family-owned pharmacy appropriately named “Rocco’s Pharmacy” in Bristol PA. For 24 years, Rocco’s Pharmacy and the personal connection with their customers was a staple of the community and the bedrock from which they raised their family. Outside of work, Lydia loved to read, was a movie connoisseur, and even donated her time to community endeavors like the Youth Group of St. Joseph’s Church in Beverly, started the Trident Swim Club in Edgewater Park, was instrumental in launching the swim team at Holy Cross High School, and a 24-hour hotline for suicide and crisis management. Of all of Lydia’s achievements, the greatest was raising her four children with James by her side. Lisa Drzal (with husband Justin Drzal), Lara Bruneau (with husband Steve Bruneau), James (JR) Rocco III (with wife Deborah Rocco), and John Rocco (with wife Lori Sullivan) are all graduates of Holy Cross and went on to get college degrees and build successful careers in healthcare, the legal profession, and special education. Her life’s greatest joy was spending time at her shore house in Margate NJ with her children and nine grandchildren (Justin, Anthony, Beau, Jacob, Tessa, Nicholas, Sean, Luke, and Finn) and a village of friends, neighbors, friends of friends, and anyone that ventured up to the famed “Porch at 108”. Lydia loved the beach, pizzas at sunset, movies projected on the side of the house, rooting on the athletes in the Olympics, and hosting some raucous alley parties that were the envy of all who walked by. Lydia’s loving nature, fondness for family time, and hospitality to all will be sorely missed. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Saturday April 24 from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Bradley Funeral Home, 601 Route 73 South at Evesham Rd., Marlton, NJ. The funeral service will be at 3 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Lydia's name to Planned Parenthood, at https://www.weareplannedparenthood.org. <iframe class="ts_player" allowfullscreen="true" allowtransparency="true" allow="autoplay; fullscreen" frameborder="0" height="330" scrolling="no" src="https://www.tributeslides.com/videos/embedded_video/2S6TXQDFHDX7RWBC" width="512"></iframe>
