Alfred Schultz Obituary

Alfred Bernard Schultz, 89, of Mays Landing passed away peacefully with his daughter and nephew by his side on December 13, 2014. He was born in the Bronx, NY and resided there until enlisting in the Army in 1944 during WWII. He served in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged in 1946. After returning to the states, he rode his motorcycle cross country to attend auto mechanics training in Glendale, CA. He returned to New York to work as an auto mechanic and service writer for various automobile dealerships. He was married to Diana in 1958 and had a daughter in 1962. He finished his working career as a computer specialist and did not retire until age 81. He had various hobbies and interests over his lifetime. One of the first was riding motorcycles and participating in cross-country racing where he sometimes rode in the sidecar. After marrying Diana, the hobbies got a little safer and he loved photography, racing model cars, flying model rockets and model airplanes, and was a ham radio operator who had the privilege of operating from the Statue of Liberty during its 100 year celebration. His last and greatest passion was for computers. He even had one of the originals, a Commodore 64. He continued this hobby until his death. He had a great passion for cats and had many over his lifetime. His final cat, Shtinky was his twin and they truly loved each other. He is survived by his daughter, Marci, his nephew, Bruce, his cat Shtinky, and many friends who adored him. He was a kind and loving person who never hesitated to help any of his friends or his daughter with a home improvement project. He will be missed terribly. Funeral services will be held at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing on Monday, December 15. Family will be receiving guests starting at 9:30 am with the funeral service set to start at 10 am. Burial will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, NJ. Donations can be sent in lieu of flowers to the American Heart Association.
