Anna Ashby Mays Landing, New Jersey Obituary

Anna Ashby

Anna a.k.a Addie Ashby, born in Macon, Georgia October 3, 1918 to the late Anderson and Laura Bryant, passed away Friday, July 28, 2017 at home. Her work history of over 50 years consisted of being a seamstress, then a domestic. Addie was a proud member of her church, St. James A.M.E., where she served as a missionary for many years. She was also proud of her community. All that know as well as knew her can attest to her larger than life heart, always giving her all to those who needed assistance. Her door was always open to anyone who came. Addie is going to be profoundly missed. She was the unknown “Mother Theresa.” She leaves her memories to her daughter Donna; her brothers Richard (Barbara) Bryant of Vineland and his family; and William Bryant and his family of Detroit; her sisters Betty Lindsey of Florida and her family, Ruth Williams of Vineland, and Leona Tukes and their families; her nieces Yvonne Brevard (Kevin) and her family of Mays Landing; Carol Stitt (Walter) of Richland and her family; her nephews Enis Gray (Carol) of Dorothy; David Gray and Melvin (Ruth) Gray of Mays Landing and his family; Barry Little of Mays Landing, James (Leila) Gray and his family of Vineland; and Lawrence (Tanya) Gray and his family of Millville and her lifelong friend Lorraine Pegolotti of Richland and her family; as well as many great nieces and nephews, good friends, and neighbors. Addie was pre-deceased by her husband Wilson Ashby; her sisters: Elizabeth Gray, Estell Little, Pearl Gibson, and Ocie Clark; and her brothers Ted Bryant and Charlie “Kingfish” Bryant” and her “main man” Hershey Bar! Mom, the battle is not yours, it’s the Lords. Rest Mom. Rest. You will be truly missed. Love you.
