Bernard Conover

Conover, Bernard, 90, of Cape May Court House, passed away on May 17, 2012. Born in Waretown, he was raised in Atlantic City. After attending the local technical school, he enlisted in the US Navy. He served in WWII at Pearl Harbor and was awarded three bronze stars. He lived with his wife Emilia in Mays Landing for several years before moving to Cape May Court House. He worked as a Tool and Dye Maker at Wheaton Plastics in Millville for 33 years until his retirement. Bernard was very artistic. In his retirement he enjoyed building remote control boats and airplanes, and built model trains from scratch. He loved boating, having built his first boat at age 14, and was an avid fisherman. He is survived by his two daughters: Eileen Conover (Richard) of Hammonton, and Adela Monfredo (Anthony) of Richland; seven grandchildren: Christopher, Elissa, and Nicole Gigliotti, James Burnisky, Jr. and David Burnisky, and Gina and Anthony Monfredo; and seven great-grandchildren: Joseph, Christopher, Melissa, Jacquiline, Christina, Jacob, and Julie. He was preceded in death by his grandson Joseph Gigliotti. A viewing will be held on Saturday, 10-11 AM at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where services will be held at 11 AM. Burial will be in Atlantic City Cemetery in Pleasantville. Memorial contributions may be made to a veterans organization of your choice.
