Gruhler-Hand, Betty, 87, who was best known to family and friends as “Jackie” passed away peacefully on February 19, 2015. She was born in Patterson, NJ but was a resident in Atlantic County for over 65 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Jess Hand. She is survived by her children: daughter Linda Gruhler and husband Larry, son Paul Gruhler and wife Claire, son Robert Gruhler, son John Gruhler, daughter Karen Carroll (Gruhler), daughter Nancy Castrenze (Gruhler); and step-son Jesse Hand. Jackie was affectionately known as “Nanny” by 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 from 11am-1pm at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing where reflections will be held at 1pm. Burial will follow immediately at Union Cemetery.
