Brendan Gormley Obituary

Brendan Beck Gormley, 24, of Buena, died in a house fire trying to rescue his white kitty on December 2, 2011. Big brother to Colin Gormley and Katrina Steinbacher; dear son of James Gormley and Pauline Steinbacher. He was a graduate of Buena Regional High School, class of 2005 where he was voted “most unique.” He graduated summa cum laude from DePaul University with a degree in computer and video game design. He was currently studying C++ and developing an original computer game. He worked as a caregiver for his quadriplegic cousin, Mary Tisera, playing “Warcraft”. He was eccentric, collected ceramic pigs, had a pure heart, a strange sense of humor, and loved to hug people. He was a gifted artist. He was known for his Bellco T-shirts, love of “My Little Pony,” and his huge, loving smile. He is survived by eight aunts, three uncles, thirteen cousins, along with his best friends Sal Acilio, Jordan Carson, and Zophie Murach Prystalski. Relatives and friends are invited to gather and celebrate his memory on Saturday from 11AM – 1 PM, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where reflections will be shared at 1 PM. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery, in Buena. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gormley/Steinbacher Family, payable to “The Gormley Fund” and mailed to P.O. Box 497, Buena, NJ 08310. (Info and condolences: www.boakesfuneralhome.com)
