Brian Green

Brian Andrew Green, Sr. was born Saturday November 8, 1975 to Nadine and Kenny Green in Philadelphia, PA at Pennsylvania Hospital. Brian was educated in the Philadelphia, PA school system and graduated from John Bartram High School in 1994 while working at McDonald’s. Brian started working at 16 years old and encouraged other people to work. He was a hard and smart worker. Brian loved being active and was great with his hands. He started his 2-year Meat Apprenticeship at Shop ‘n’ Bag grocery store in the late 1990’s and remained there for 4 to 5 years. From there Brian began his career at ACME Markets and was a member of UFCW Local 152 in New Jersey and became a Meat Manager where he was loved by his coworkers and their families. Brian was a natural born comedian. He made sure everyone around him was laughing even if it was at his own expense. He was a kind and giving person always willing to help everyone he cared for with no questions asked. Brian loved cars and sneakers. As a kid he had a fetish for belts which he always inquired if his cousins and friends got beatings from their parents with those belts. He left his family and friends with lots to memories and fun stories based on his personal experiences. Brian was also known for making up colorful stories on the fly to create an atmosphere of laughter around him. He was a gentle giant who could put a smile on anyone’s face including strangers and everyone loved him for that. Brian gave himself the nickname B-Man short for Bravery Man. When in high school his mom purchased a leather jacket for him that was blue, red and yellow. Written across the back were the words Man Alive. That spoke directly to who Brian was – a lively soul with endless energy. Within a matter of days after receiving his gift, Brian made his own theme song for his nickname B-Man titled Bravery Man: Everywhere you go, It’s Bravery Man, Look up in the sky, It’s Bravery Man, Braaavery Maaan, Braaaavery Maaaaaaan, It’s Braaaaavery Maaaaaaaaaan! Brian was just that – the bravest man who did not fear anything. He would stand up for himself, his family and friends without question. Brian met Tanita Taylor in 1994. To this union Brian gained his proudest accomplishment, their son Brian, Jr. (affectionately known as Mooner). He loved spending time with his son and teaching him new things. Brian truly enjoyed his time with Mooner throughout his many sports activities such as Martial Arts, Football and Lacrosse. Brian’s goal was to pour all of his knowledge and wisdom into his son as his mom and dad did for him. Brian took his time to explain to his son the importance of being a good person and a stand-up man. Their father and son bond was unbreakable. Brian loved when Mooner visited him at his job to have conversations with him. Brian would listen to Mooner and hear the development in his maturity increase through his words and experiences he shared with Brian. Brian was truly proud of his son and loved him to no end. Brian learned to cook at a young age. Cooking on his grills was his happy place. He truly loved a good meal. In 1995 Brian temporarily attended The Restaurant School for Culinary Arts. He stopped attending because he was bored due to them not teaching him anything new. Brian was a natural Chef and self-taught. Brian also loved his desserts – ice cream to be specific! In the summertime, it was nothing for Brian to head to the Shore or a local Creamery for a few scoops of ice cream and post them on Facebook. Brian cared for his Grandmother Phyllis. He would pick up her medicine from the pharmacy and made sure she had everything she needed. His Grandmom called him the Medicine Man. Brian left his mark on this earth by imprinting his humor, knowledge and wisdom on each person he interacted with. Brian’s preceded in death by his maternal Grandfather (Gramps) Henry and his paternal Grandmother Lucille. Brian leaves to cherish his wife Tanita and son Brian, Jr., mother Nadine (Earl), father Kenny, brother Carlton Green (Santha), Grandmother Phyllis L. Watkins, Grandfather William (Bill) Green, Mother-in-law Marie Cummings Peterson, and Father-in-law Greg Taylor. A host of nieces, nephews, Aunts, Uncles, cousins, lifelong best friends Shawla (Buffy) and Calvin and friends. I will lift up mine eyes into the hills, from whence cometh my help.
