Charles Johnson Obituary

Johnson, Charles M., of Mays Landing, passed away on July 15, 2009. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from November 1942 until he was discharged in 1945 as Corporal Johnson. During that time he served in seven countries in the Anti-aircraft Army in charge of the gun section. Charles owned and operated Mays Landing Sand and Gravel. He was a member of VFW Post 220 in Mays Landing and the Republican Club. His hobbies included fishing, boating, hunting, skiing, model trains, and building bird houses. He was preceded in death by his father Ben Johnson, step-father Francis Wainwright, sister Janet Mason, mother Janet Wainwright, and sister Doris Gregowski. He is survived by his wife of 61 1/2 years, the love of his life, Angie Johnson.; daughter Charlotte Dorfman and husband Jerry of Mays Landing, son Chuck Johnson, Jr and wife Chris of Mays Landing; sister Sara Wettstein and husband Raymond; four grandchildren: Lester Eisenhart (Brenda) of Georgia, Shane Eisenhart (Shannon) of Egg Harbor City, Juliana Johnson and Kaila Johnson, both of Mays Landing; three great-grandchildren: Brittanie, Jason, and Jacob Eisenhart; and many nieces and nephews who were close to his heart. A viewing will be held on Monday, 9-11 AM, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where a viewing will be held from 9 AM until the time of the service. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Mays Landing.
