Daniel Murray Obituary

Daniel Joseph Murray, 63, an Assistant Prosecutor for the Atlantic County New Jersey Prosecutor’s Office for 26 years, passed away from cancer related complications on June 29, 2009. A native of Chicago, IL, Mr. Murray lived in Ocean City, NJ. He was a graduate of Archbishop Quigley Preparatory in Chicago and Northeastern Illinois University. He obtained his law degree from Rutgers University School of Law. He served in the US Army. Mr. Murray was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He is survived by his wife Kim Bloomer; son Special Agent Colin P. Murray; daughter and son-in-law Erin Murray O’Neill, Esq. and Michael J. O’Neill, Esq.; granddaughters Emelia C. O’Neill and E. Grace O’Neill, sisters Nora M. Kamberos (Ted) and Mary Beth Whiting (Bruce), brothers James A. Murray, Jr. (Mary Kate), Roger P. Murray (the late Arrah) and John X. Murray (Kimberly). Mr. Murray was preceded in death by his parents James Ambrose Murray and Patricia Farrell Murray. Mr. Murray was an avid birdwatcher and ice hockey player. Mr. Murray is the author of a forthcoming book on the Chicago and Western Indiana Railroad. A viewing will be held at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing, NJ on Thursday, July 2, 2009, from 10 am - 12:30 PM with a vigil service at 12:30. A viewing will also be held at John E. Maloney Funeral Home, 1359 West Devon Avenue, Chicago, IL on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 from 5 pm - 9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at 10 am at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church, 1420 W. Granville Street, Chicago, IL. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Hawk Mountain Sanctuary Association, 1900 Hawk Mountain Road, Kempton, PA 19529.
