Dear family and friends, We are devastated and heartbroken to tell that our dearest David has left this vale of tears. He leaves behind his wife Maria, children:Ian, Peter, Colin, Colin’s wife Lindsey; stepchildren: Sean and Stacy; grandchildren: Alex, Michelle, Piper, Gavin and Kennedy Lynn. David was a valued employee of L’Oreal USA for over 35 years. He retired from the workforce in 2010. After the death of his wife Linda, he needed to regroup. He was a devoted husband and cared for her many years. We will be celebrating his life on April 7, 2018. Please join us at Oaks of Weymouth Club House, 100 Oaks Drive, between 1:00pm and 4pm. Maria David Harrison. A loving husband, father, friend, and coach. Leaving behind his wife Maria and daughter Stacey. Children Colin, Peter, and Ian. Grandchildren Michelle, Piper, Gavin and Kennedy. Someone once told me we are all products of our upbringing and the people we meet throughout our short time here on this earth help shape the people we all become. Here are some things that you may or not know about my father that shaped the man he was. As well as some ways I believe he influenced people he knew throughout his life. He learned his humility from his modest beginnings. He was born on August 1, 1947 in England and was delivered on his kitchen table. My father grew up in England in a very large family. 12 brothers and 1 sister. I can remember him telling us stories of how little they had and about eating lard sandwiches. He learned the value of hard work at a very young age. He leaned to play the piano My father served in the British Merchant Navy where he traveled the world and learned to play the guitar. While in the Navy he met my mother at a dance like out of a storybook. They later married and moved back to England where his two sons Ian and Peter were born. My mother wanted to be near her family so they decided to move back to the States. He left his family behind in England to make a new life. Yours truly was born shortly after arriving in the U.S. My father took a job as a clerk. He taught me the meaning of loyalty. He continued to work for the same company until he retired. All the while he put himself through night school and after years of dedication earned his Masters Degree from Rutgers University. Yet he still found the time to coach soccer which he had a passion for. I’d like to think he helped influence many young men throughout his coaching career. He was great husband to my mother. Especially through the hard times when she became ill. He took care of her until her last breath. As a father he provided for his children and was always there when called upon for our own shortcomings. He coached all of us. He taught us to bait a hook. He would cook us an English breakfast every Sunday morning with stewed tomatoes and beans. He took us on a family vacation every year. I remember our car breaking down on most of them, but we would still make it there somehow. I’m thankful he met the second love of his life Maria. I know they made each other very happy and he adored her. It saddens me they will not have more time together. I’m thankful my father had the opportunity to meet his granddaughter Kennedy. He had a chance to hold her, make her laugh. It saddens my he will not see her grow up. David Harrison was a good man. He was humble, kind, generous and had a great sense of humor.
