Deborah L. Spinella

Spinella, Deborah (Deb) – 61 of Weymouth Twp. NJ passed peacefully in her home on Wednesday, October 28, 2015. Born in Mount Holly, devoted mother of Robert Moorhead (Wendy) of Williamstown NJ, and Heather McCurdy (Anthony) of Dennis Twp. NJ. Followed by her 6 grandchildren, Paige and Madeleine McCurdy, Jordan and Ryan Moorhead, and Abigail and Cecilia Twiford. Dear sister of Trudi Wilson of Weymouth Twp. NJ, Kathie Papasso (Joe) of Okeechobee FL, Theodore Jr. (Michelle) of Cherry Hill NJ, Timothy (Bobby) of Jefferson City TN, Amelia Jones (Brian) of San Jose CA, Thomas (Patty) of Woodland Twp. NJ, and brother Thaddeus who predeceased her in 1965. Loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Indulgent parent of Gus, her beloved dachshund.

Deb was a talented, self-taught artist, using her art as a form of therapeutic self-discovery. An active member in the South Jersey art community, Deb won recognition for her unique perspective and talent in numerous competitions. She was a member of numerous art organizations including the Noyes Museum of Art, the Ocean City Fine Arts League, the Hammonton Arts Center, and the Ocean City Arts Center.

Professionally, Deb worked in government relations for South Jersey Industries. Prior to that, she worked in county, state and federal government in different capacities including chief of staff and constituent relations.

Deb enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling to Florida, Maryland and Hawaii on vacations and experiencing unique events, activities, foods, wines and scenery in her travels. She particularly enjoyed spending time at the beach in Strathmere, Ocean City and Cape May, using those locations for inspiration for her artwork.

Deb’s family and friends will remember her as a talented, independent, fun-loving and brave woman with a big heart.

Reflections of Deb’s life will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 1:00pm to 2:30 pm at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing NJ, 08330 with a service at 2:30pm.
