Denise M.Day, 59, of Dorothy, passed away on February 12, 2010 at her home, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Denise was born in Philadelphia, PA and was raised in Brigantine. She was a life-long South Jersey resident. Denise worked as a computer tape librarian for the William Hughes Tech Center, formerly NAFEC, for 20 years, where she was also active in the NAFEC Association.. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Egg Harbor and Trinity Alliance of Cologne, where she was a Pioneer Girls leader. She currently attended the Babcock Community Church. Denise was an avid outdoors sportswomen; and belonged to the Quinton Sportsman Club, Pine Valley Gun Club, Pine Belt Sportsman Club, Amateur Trap Shooting Association, and the National Wild Turkey Federation. Denise also served her community as a former member of the Weymouth Twp. Zoning Board. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, and spending time with her family. She is predeceased by her parents: Felix Squitieri and Lucille and Vernon Hicks, her son, Joseph P. DeVincenzo, and her sister, Dayle Oliver. Denise leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Lew Day; her son, Aaron DeVincenzo (Nicole) and his father Joseph DeVincenzo; her goddaughter, Michelle Albanese; her 3 step-children: Sean Day (Joan), Elizabeth Steelman, and Kathleen DeRosa (Anthony); her 2 grandchildren: Jewel and Sydney DeVincenzo; her 9 step-grandchildren: Lauren, Lindsay, Logan, and Lainey Day; Rachel and Jenna Steelman and Ryan Sanford, and Anthony and Gianna DeRosa; her siblings: Andrea Johns (Bobby), Georgianna (Albanese) Cimadori (Ken), Shawn Duff (Galen), Vernon Hicks (Nat), and Michael Squitieri (Brenda). Denise is also survived by aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and many other loved ones and cherished friends. Services will be held on Thursday, 11:00am, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing. Viewings will be held on Wednesday, 6:00-8:00pm and on Thursday, 10:00am til the time of the service. Burial will take place in Laurel Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to AtlantiCare Care Hospice, PO Box 1626, Pleasantville, NJ 08232.
