Dorothea Meehan Obituary

Meehan, Dorothea, 78, Of Mays Landing passed away Monday, October 23rd at home with family. She is predeceased by both her parents Thomas and Dorothea Meehan and her brother Charles. She leaves behind a daughter Pam Earle (Gordon) and son Brad Gordon, and his spouse Donna. She also leaves behind her beautiful grandchildren, whom she loved very much...Jason (17), Jared, and Courtney (15), Earle and Brianna (11), Bella and Bradford JR (9) and Gordon (3). She was one of eight children. Her surviving siblings are her sister Irene Cusat, sister Anna Marie Cheatle, brother William and wife Pat, sister Peggy Fletcher and husband Fran, brother Peter and wife Sandy, brother John and wife Carole and sister in law Lillian. Also, there are many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family that will miss her greatly. Born in Philadelphia, Pa on June 15, 1939, Dottie grew up there before moving to Michigan, then the Villas, NJ before settling in Mays Landing in the late 1970’s. She raised two children and put herself through College full time. She graduated with honors and received her degree in Respiratory Therapy. She worked at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Pomona, NJ for over 20 years, until her retirement 16 years ago. Dottie was active in the community. She enjoyed her McDonald’s Coffee Clutch, The Lunch Bunch, playing Mah-jongg with her ladies, and The Red Hats. Above all she loved spending time with family. Whether playing games, helping with Home Work, or just sitting and talking, she valued life and the time she had and we are all better for having her in our lives. Our Mimi, as the grandkids called her, is now with our Beautiful Angels Victoria Earle and Abbigail Gordon. No services were insisted by Dottie, as she didn’t want to be mourned. Her ashes will be distributed privately at a later time. The family would like to thank AtlantiCare Hospice, Dr. Dibb , Dr. Holly Bennett and countless others involved in her care. In lieu of flowers or gifts, any contributions may be put towards her grandchildren.
