Dorothy (Dutchie) Marie Garrity, (nee: Ingersoll) 86, of Mays Landing, NJ. Born in Mays Landing, she died November 23, 2015 of natural causes.

A natural born mother and wife she raised four happy children, sometimes by herself for months at a time due to the demands of her husband’s job. She willingly and with good humor, moved from place to place as her husband, Lee’s job required: Georgia, Florida, New Jersey, Maryland, Alaska, New Jersey, Alaska, Delaware, Virginia and finally back to New Jersey, making every new house and location a warm, loving home.
As the 13th of 16 children, she was the hub of her large, extended family, keeping up with all her siblings, in-laws and their off spring, plus her many friends she made throughout the years and her travels, always remembering birthdays and anniversaries. Besides her family and friends she loved, birds, flowers, linens, Guiding Light and Perry Como.

She is survived by her children, Jeffery (Kathy), Bruce (Noreen), Donna, and Lori and predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Leo.

She is also survived by grandchildren, Kelly, Sean, Moira, and Kieran, great grandson, Hoyt; step grandchildren, Marie, Lee, Kathleen and Maureen and five step great grandchildren and her youngest sister, Janet McNew.

Predeceased by her father, Harry, mother, Katherine; brothers, Rueben, Charles, Harry, Alfred and James; sisters, Verna, Ruth, Edna, Edith, Peg, Nora, Helen, Goldie and Betty.

She will greatly missed by all.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 17, 12:30 PM at the First United Methodist Church, 6011 Main St., Mays Landing, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in her memory be made to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Mays Landing (township of Hamilton) Rescue Squad, Mays Landing, NJ.
