Dorothy Anne Pennie, 85, of Mays Landing, died Sept. 8, 2013, with her loving family by her side. She was born to the late Dr. and Mrs. Edward A. Cannon, in N.Y., N.Y. Dorothy graduated from the Academy of the Holy Angels, Fort Lee, N.J., where she won the Columbia Scholastic Press Award, and attended Dunbarton College of the Holy Cross, Washington, D.C. She married Dr. Raymond Pennie in 1948, and they lived together in North Bergen, N.J., before retiring to Mays Landing. An optimist with a light-hearted sense of humor, Dorothy maintained a life-long love of reading, music, travel and New York City. She cherished her family and her faith. Dorothy is survived by 5 children: Michael, of Oak Ridge, N.C.; Carol, and her husband, Dr. Michael Mahoney, of Chesapeake, VA; Jean, and her husband, Dr. Henry Wodnicki, of Miami Beach; Nancy, and her husband, Ira Gold, of Leonia, N.J.; and John, and his wife, Karen Casey, of Long Island, N.Y. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Dorothea; and many nieces and nephews. Her husband of 64 years, Raymond, predeceased her, as well as her son, Steven Christopher, and her brother, Dr. Edward F. Cannon. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at 11 am, at the Church of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, 519 New Jersey Ave., Absecon, where a viewing will be held from 10 am- 11 am. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
