Earline Washington Obituary

On September 3, 2016, that old ship of Zion came ashore and Jesus, the Captain gently led Earline from earth to Glory. God in His infinite wisdom knew that she was tired and ready to come home. She was born October 12, 1916 to the late Don and Vivian Johnson in Wallace, NC where she was fourth of ten children. She was educated in the public system in Wallace, NC. Earline later moved to Philadelphia, PA where she met and married Roosevelt Washington. Roosevelt and Earline moved to New Jersey. Earline accepted Christ at an early age and remained an active Christian. Earline lived life to the fullest. Her passion for life and her unconditional loving spirit affected the lives of all who knew her. She had a “big heart” for family and friends. Earline had a personality that lifted anyone’s spirit she encountered. Earline was feisty to the end. She loved fellowship events that involved family and friends. Wherever Earline arrived, everyone knew it. She had to make an entrance; therefore, everyone eagerly anticipated her arrival. All who knew her adored her. Earline worked many jobs during her lifetime. Her greatest pride was being a caregiver for the “Atlantic Human Resources” as a “Foster Grandparent Worker”, where she was employed until her health deteriorated. Left to cherish her many memories are one sister, Wilma Hood; one daughter Gloria Canty and her beloved son-in-law Milton; four granddaughters: Sonya Rich (Ralph), Renee Hall (Trappier), Gloria McNeil, and Angelique Payne (Keron). She also leaves behind eight great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, a special god-daughter Kathy Abdullah; plus a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends as well as her church family and her Pastor Bishop Allen. She was predeceased by her parents Don and Vivian Johnson, husband Roosevelt Washington, four brothers: Forrest, David, J.T., and Phillip Johnson; and three sisters: Laura Sadler, Ethel Mae Sheppard, and Eunice Wright. A viewing will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 10-11 AM at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where services will be held at 11 AM. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park in Mays Landing.
