Obituary
Edward “Chief” Gaskill, Jr., 66, of Melbourne, FL, passed away on May 2, 2013, in Easton, PA. Ed was born in Mays Landing, NJ on May 27, 1946. He served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard from 1963-1976. Ed was a Vietnam Veteran. After his military service, Ed worked as both as the Chief Engineer and Assistant Chief Engineer, Diesel for American Maritime Officers, including work on both the Delta Queen and Mississippi Queen River boats. He had recently retired on October 1, 2011. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. Ed was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America. Ed is preceded in death by his father, Edward Gaskill Sr. and mother Gloria (Shearer) Renn. Ed is survived by two brothers, Nelson Gaskill and wife Mavis of Mays Landing, NJ and Robert Gaskill of NJ. He is also survived by daughters, Jennifer Lynn Gaskill of Clarks Summit, PA, Cynthia Diane Singley and husband Jason of Easton, PA and Adrianna Leigh Schwartz and husband Patrick of Scranton, PA. Ed is also survived by five grandchildren, Alyssa, Andrew, Jacie, Jane and Colin. He also had five nieces and nephews, Jeffrey Gaskill, Bonnie Leary, Michael Gaskill, Melissa Straiton and Michelle Gaskill. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing, where services will be held at 12 Noon. The Reverend John Ash of the Presbyterian Church of Mays Landing will be officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at the Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Veterans of America or the Salvation Army.
