Edward Goodman Obituary

Edward G. (Bud) Goodman, Jr., 64, of Galloway, NJ and Marco Island, FL, passed away at his home in NJ with his loving wife Gail by his side on November 12, 2017. He was the eldest son of Edward and Madeline (DeSimone) Goodman. He grew-up in Absecon, NJ. He graduated from Oakcrest High School in 1972. After graduation Bud apprenticed with the Sheet Metal Worker’s Union Local 27. He worked learning the trade with his cousin, John Pruchnicki. Thereafter he enjoyed a long career with Kiker Roofing and Sheet Metal in Pleasantville, NJ from which he retired in 2010. Bud was a skilled craftsman. His work lives on in the form of polished stainless fabrications in numerous commercial kitchens in local restaurants and casinos, as well as décor in residential homes. Together Bud and Gail enjoyed traveling. They extensively cruised the Caribbean islands, twice visited Alaska, and enjoyed a Hawaiian vacation with Bud’s brother Scott and his wife Anne. Bud was an avid sportsman. He loved boating and fishing both in FL and NJ. Together with Gail and family, catching the biggest fish was always great family fun competition. As a member of the Shur Shot Gun Club of Laureldale, NJ, he enjoyed deer and bird hunting. He and Gail together enjoyed snow skiing. They traveled to Colorado to ski with friends and Bud’s sister MaryLynn and her husband Tom. In his retirement Bud became an avid golfer and enjoyed playing in local leagues with good friends and family. Bud will be sadly missed by his best friend and wife Gail, and by his many friends and family who enjoyed his kindess, generosity and shared in Bud’s general joy for life. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Gail A. (Johnson), mother- and father-in-law Gladys and Russell Johnson, his brother Scott D. Goodman (Anne Franks), sister MaryLynn (Goodman) Narkiewicz (Thomas W.), brothers-in-law Wayne Johnson and Darrell Johnson, sister-in-law Karen (Johnson) Maung (Dr. Richard), nieces Laura Johnson, Brooke Goodman, Jessica Goodman, Rachael (Goodman) Jordan, Natalie Narkiewicz and Larissa Narkiewicz, and his nephew Darrell Johnson, Jr., and grandnephews Conner and Logan Jordan, and Daniel Large. Also survived by his only living aunt Eleanor (DeSimone) Sutton, as well as many cousins. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, November 19, from 2-3:30 PM at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where services will be held at 3:30.
