Eugene Buck

Eugene (Gene) Joseph Buck born February 24, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA to parents Gertrude (Meehan) Buck and Edward Buck. Gene was 1 of 5 children, siblings Mary, Joan, Edward and Theresa. On August 26, 2018, at the age of 73, Gene passed away while at his second home in New Jersey. He originally lived in Philadelphia, later moving to East Norriton, Pennsylvania, and had a second home in Longport and later Mays Landing, New Jersey. Gene is survived by his wife Roseann (LaPergola) Buck and his sons Jason N. Buck, married to Scott F.D. Sjue, Chris Sacchetti married to Kim (Dilks) Sacchetti, and Joseph Sacchetti, married to Christine (Tarmin) Sacchetti. He was a devoted grandfather to Luke, Angelina, Joseph and Jack Sacchetti. Gene graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School in 1963, and continued his education at Saint Joseph’s University where he attended on a full Athletic/Track and Field scholarship, setting a school record in the pole vault. He graduated from Saint Joseph’s with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in May 1967, and went on to earn a Master’s in Education at Temple University in May 1970. Gene started his career as a Teacher in the Philadelphia School system and went on to work as a Certified School Psychologist for the Haverford School District until he retired in 2004. Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, the outdoors and riding his motorcycle. He was a member of the NRA and a former President of the Lower Providence Rod & Gun Club, where he continued his passion for teaching by establishing and running the youth BB gun program, as well as the club’s Junior Rifle program. As a true fan of marksmanship, Gene competed on a pistol shooting Team with others from the Rod & Gun Club. Gene also enjoyed playing tennis, reading, watching TV and movies, and playing cards with family and friends. Whatever the interest, no matter how long or short the time he held that interest, Gene had true passion and put his whole self into learning about and doing well with these activities. Gene was married in September 1967 to Barbara Ann Leone. Gene and Barbara welcomed their son Jason Neil in December 1972. After Barbara’s passing from cancer in 1976, Gene fulfilled the role of single Dad to Jason until he married Roseann (LaPergola) Buck in October 1978. Roseann’s sons Chris and Joseph completed the blended Buck/Sacchetti family that he loved and cared for. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in the name of Eugene J. Buck to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
