George H. Askins, Sr., of Mays Landing, passed away on May 15, 2019. He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, April 21, 1930 to William and Nancy Askins. He was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson High School, class of 1948. George was a Korean War veteran serving in the US Air Force from 1950 thru 1954. He worked for Public Service Electric & Gas Co. retiring after over 32 years of service. He was a member of Saint Vincent Roman Catholic Church in Mays Landing George is survived by his wife Mary F. Askins; his children: George, Mike, Brian, Mary, Dennis, Nancy, Andrew, Jimmy, Judy, Bill, Kerry, and Amy; and many Grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Lucy. A viewing Friday May 17th from 6:00-8:00 pm Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing. A second viewing will be held on Saturday, May 18th from 10-11 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 5021 Harding Hwy., Mays Lading, where Mass will be held at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
