George Black, Sr. Obituary

Black, George F., passed away December 4, 2007 after a short illness. He was a veteran of WWII. He served three years in the Pacific Ocean on a submarine, the USS Pogy. He was a gunners mate. In 1946 he married Ruth Adams of Atlantic City. They were married 48 years until her death in 1994. Mr. Black joined the A.C.F.D. in 1948 and left in 1956 to become a commercial fisherman and boat captain. He ran several boats at Capt. Starn's Pier and owned several boats. He was a commercial fisherman for over twenty years. Mr. Black was also a member of the Mays Landing VFW Band. Mr. Black is survived by a son George F. Black, Jr. of Motts Creek and a daughter Ruth Black of Langhorne, PA. Also surviving is his companion Lois de Fillipo of Toms River. In lieu of flowers, please support the Mays Landing V.F.W.
