Helen Margaret Sooy, 79, of Mays Landing, passed away surrounded by her loving family on May 18, 2014. Helen was born in Camden to the late Joseph and Emily McWilliams. She was raised in Atlantic City and attended Holy Spirit Grammar School and graduated Holy Spirit High School of Atlantic City. In 1955 Helen moved to Brigantine where she raised her family. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and watching her grandchildren. In her later years Helen and her husband worked at Story Book Land of Egg Harbor Twp. and were Eucharistic Ministers and dedicated members of the Church of St. Katharine Drexel. She will be sadly missed but never forgotten by her husband of 62 years Bob E., her five children: Bob (Sally), Michele Santoro (John), Joe (Susan), Mike (Carolyn), and John, her 10 grandchildren: Michael (Becky), Steven, Kevin, Keith, Erik, Katie (Doug), Melissa, Ethan, Julie, and Kyle, and her great-granddaughter Joanna. A celebration of Helen’s life will be held on Thursday, May 22nd, from 7-9pm, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be shared on Friday, May 23rd, 11am, at the Church of St. Katharine Drexel, 6077 West Jersey Ave., Egg Harbor Twp., where friends may gather one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery of Mays Landing.
