Obituary
Ivanhoe J. McGibbon, 88, of Mizpah, went to his eternal rest at home on Saturday, October 2, 2010 after a lengthy illness. He was born and raised in Jamaica, West Indies, and relocated to Mizpah from New York in 1989. Ivanhoe retired from the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier in New York City with over 20 years of service. He attended St. John A.M.E. Zion Church where he was a faithful member for many years, and was also involved in the community’s neighborhood watch, during his earlier years in the area. Ivanhoe is predeceased by his beloved wife Dorcas May, and one daughter, Malheta Thompson. Left to carry on his legacy, he is survived by his son, Dudley McGibbon of Oakland, California; two daughters – Jasmin McGibbon of Brooklyn, New York and Margaret McGibbon of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey; and his grandson, David Thompson of Winter Park, Florida. Also left to mourn his memory are a host of loving brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, and friends. Services will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. John A.M.E. Zion Church, 6892 Church St., in Mizpah, where friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at Laurel Memorial Park, Tilton Road in Cardiff. Arrangements entrusted to Boakes Funeral Home, Inc. of Mays Landing.
