James Guercioni Obituary

James L. Guercioni, Sr. (Jimmie), 92, of Galloway Township, went home to be with the Lord, with his family by his side on Thursday, May 13, 2010. Jimmie was born on September 19, 1917 to Antonio and Rita Guercioni in Camden, NJ. He was raised in Egg Harbor City. He served his country honorably in World War II in the United States Navy aboard the USS Amsterdam CL101. In early years Jimmie worked as a tailor. In 1948 Jimmie founded "Jimmies Florist" in Egg Harbor City and remained there until 1970, before leaving the area. Jimmie moved to California and then to Florida. He resided in West Melbourne, FL until 2008. Jimmie was a member of the Egg Harbor City Exchange Club, Egg Harbor City VFW, and the Galloway Township American Legion. Jimmie is predeceased by his wife Catherine, his parents Antonio and Rita, his brothers Frank and Tony, and sister Splendora. Jimmie is survived and will be greatly missed by his children: Jimmie Jr. (Barbara), Kathleen Eovino (Mike), Nancy Birardi (Rock), Jane Worth, and Thomas (Tammy Jeanne); his former wife Margaret; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Viewings will be held on Monday, May 17, 2010 from 7-9 PM and Tuesday morning May 18, 2010 from 10-11 AM at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday. Interment will be in Germania Cemetery.
