Obituary
Janet Edith DeCicco (Lucas) On the morning of March 22, 2015, Janet passed away surrounded by her loving husband, daughter and brother. Janet was 69 years old. Janet DeCicco was born at the Atlantic City Hospital on July 9, 1945 to parents Stephen and Williamina Lucas. Janet was a life-long resident of Mays Landing and retired from Atlantic Cape Community College after 27 years of service. She enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader, watching her favorite television programs and going to the movies, trips to Disney World, and most of all spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She especially looked forward to her summer cross-country drives with her husband to Oregon for extended visits with her son and his family. A devoted wife, Janet was married to her husband Phil for 49 years. They met in Wildwood, NJ when Janet was 16 and married on January 29, 1966. In the eyes of her daughter, they were the best of friends; persevered the tough times and relished the good. Theirs was the epitome of the definition of marriage-one to admire. As a mother and grandmother she certainly led by example; her children strive to be as strong, caring, loving, selfless, compassionate and doting to their families as much as she was to them. Janet is predeceased in death by her parents Stephen Robert and Williamina Mae (Patterson) Lucas, Jr.; parent in-laws Biagio Anthony and Florence Isabel (Hoyt) DeCicco; brother-in-law Donald DeCicco, and best childhood girlfriends Patricia Woods and Mary Jo Perrone (Gallo). Janet is survived by her loving and supporting husband Philip William DeCicco, Sr., her daughter Susan Patricia DeCicco also of Mays Landing, her son Philip William DeCicco, Jr. (Sarah) of Eugene, Oregon, 5 grandchildren, Stephanie Mae, Jeffrey Frank Jr., Cody Samuel, Emma Claire Marie, and Cora, and her brother Stephen Lucas, Jr. (Suzanne) of Manahawkin. Flowers may be sent to Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, NJ 08330. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Presbyterian Church of Mays Landing, 6001 Main Street, Mays Landing. Janet’s family is eternally grateful for God and His never-ending love and mercy He has shown her and His bringing such wonderful people into Janet’s life. Her family would like to express their overwhelming gratitude to those who have not only supported and cared for Janet, but for them as well: the Reverend John Ash of Mays Landing, Dr. Grommes and staff and all the personnel at Memorial Sloan Kettering, Dr. Borai and staff of Galloway, Atlanticare Regional Medical Center of Pomona, Meadowview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Northfield, Heartland Hospice of Northfield and countless family and friends. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Boakes Funeral Home, Mays Landing; 1-3pm. A private burial with immediate family members will follow.
