John Howard

John Howard, 89, of Vineland, passed away at AtlantiCare Mainland Hospital on October 25, 2013. Mr. Howard was born in East Orange, and has lived in West Keansburg for 35 years and Mays Landing for 20 years. Most recently he was a resident of the NJ Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland. John was in the US Army, serving during World War II; during this time he received a Purple Heart Medal. He was a member and past Chief of West Keansburg Fire Dept. John was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Anita (nee: Arnold). Mr. Howard is survived by his children: Lynn Devine (Thomas) of Absecon; Mark of Brigantine; Matthew (Kathy) of Absecon; and Luke (Dorian) of Monroe Twp; his 8 grandchildren: Janine, Thomas (Stacy), Erin (Jeremy), Heather (Robert), Kari, Ashley (Drew), and Nicole (Cliff); and his 15 great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Tuesday, 12:00noon, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where a viewing will be held from 10am til the time of the service. Burial will be at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
