John K. Vettese, 75 of Pomona N.J. passed away after a brief illness surrounded by his family on Tuesday April 3, 2018. John was a lifelong resident of the area. John served his country proudly in the United States Navy from 1963-1968. John was the proud owner of Vettese Blueberry Farms and everyone knew him as “Blueberry John”. He enjoyed summers at the Jersey Shore and traveling to Colorado in the winters. John enjoyed shooting pool with his buddies at the Atlantic City Billiard Club in Egg Harbor Twp. He was a very compassionate and generous man who helped many people.in his lifetime. John was predeceased by his father Floyd and mother Doris. John is survived by his sisters Debra Sorg and husband Albert of Estell Manor, N.J.and Mary Stewart and husband Patrick of Stuart, Florida and nephew Marcus Morrone of Chandler Az. John is also survived by many relatives. Donations may be made in the memory of John K. Vettese to the Atlantic City Rescue Mission or to the charity of your choice. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate his memory on Monday, April 9 from 10-11:30AM at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where a service will be held at 11:30. Burial with military honors will follow at the Atlantic Co. Veterans Cemetery.
