John F. Young, “Skip”, 71, of Mays Landing, peacefully passed at home with his loving family at his side on Wednesday, February 1, 2012. Skip was born in Cape May and spent a majority of his years in Wildwood Crest. He attended Cape May High School 1955-1959. He enlisted in the Air Force right from high school and joined the Wildwood Crest Police Force in 1966. While on the police force, Skip earned an Associates Degree in Science from Cumberland County College and attended the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA. He retired from the police force as Chief after 27 years of service. Skip enjoyed fishing, cooking, painting, and the beach. He was known for his honesty, straight-forwardness, and wonderful sense of humor. Preceded in death by his mother Anna, he is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Barbara (Corchiani); daughter Traci (George) Dunham; and son John G. (Michelle) Young; proud pop pop of Caroline and Paige Dunham and Jonathan, Matthew, Micah, and Jordan Young. He also survived by his sister Memma. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Skip’s life on Monday, February 6th from 9-11 AM at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 5021 Harding Highway, Mays Landing, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to AtlantiCare Hospice, 6550 Delilah Rd., Suite 210, Egg Harbor Twp., NJ 08234.
