Joseph Barresi

Joseph Vincent Barrresi, Sr., 87, of Mays Landing, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2009 at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center after a long battle with numerous illnesses. He was born on May 19, 1922. Joseph was a member of the 421st Airborne Fighter Squadron in WWII where he flew 111 combat missions in the South Pacific. After returning, he worked as a bookkeeper at a local automobile dealership, an attendant at the Atlantic City Race Course, and a toll booth attendant at the Atlantic City Expressway until retiring in 1988. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen Jean Barresi (Henry); two sons: Joseph Vincent Barresi, Jr, and Gerald Barresi and his wife Barbara Jean; and four grandchildren: Barbara Janine Barresi, Anthony Joseph Barresi, Matthew Dermond, and Shaun Dermond. Services will be held on Monday, 11 AM, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where a viewing will be held from 10 AM until the time of the service. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Mays Landing.
