Joseph Kolmetsky, - Born August 6, 1934 passed away peacefully at home on May 9, 2012 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Joe was born and raised in the inlet section of Atlantic City and resided in Southern NJ most of his life. He is predeceased by his parents Sam and Marie Kolmetsky and his loving wife of 44 years Hazel. Joe is survived by four children: Mike (Paula) Kolmetsky of Egg Harbor Township, Brian (Debbie) Kolmetsky of Dorothy, Joanne (Alex) Alexandrov of Ventnor Heights and Beth Kolmetsky (Dan Daley) of Brigantine. Joe had nine beautiful grandchildren: Colin, Shane and Tyler Kolmetsky, Kristina Rheinhard, Shawna Kolmetsky, Sasho, Alexa and Angelina Alexandrov and Dani Leah Daley. Also left behind are three sisters: Joan (John) Hand, Barbara (Todd) Arabia and Doris McGill, brother Denny Kolmetsky and many nieces and nephews. Most of Joe’s working years were spent behind the wheel of an 18 wheeler, dump truck, tour bus or limousine. He loved to drive and could give you directions to any place in the US off the top of his head. Joe and Hazel loved to travel in their RV and spent many happy years residing in Haines City, Florida. He loved animals especially dogs and had many over the course of his life. He was a huge Nascar fan as well. Watching his children and later his grandchildren play sports was a highlight of his life. And no one enjoyed a Tastykake like Joe Kolmetsky. Joe proudly served his country during the Korean War in the US Army. Our heartfelt thanks go out to Dr. Nahza and his caring staff. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated. Joe’s service will be held Monday May 14, 2012 at 12 Noon, where a viewing will be held from 10 AM until the time of the service.
