Josephine Ponticello, 81, of Mays Landing, NJ (formerly of South Philadelphia) passed away peacefully at home on October 21, 2013. She was comforted and surrounded by her family. Josephine, or Pina as she was fondly called by family and friends, was born and raised in Sicily, emigrated to Philadelphia with her family, and proudly became a US citizen who worked hard to support her family and to be a friend to so many. Josephine devoted her life to caring for others. Josephine had many blessings in her life. She was a caring and loving daughter and sister. She was a devoted and loving wife of nearly 59 years to her husband, Joe. She gave selflessly and lovingly to her children and grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her home was always filled with an endless stream of good friends and neighbors. Josephine was pre-deceased by her devoted husband, Joe, and her loving son, Joseph. She leaves behind her daughter, Marianne and her husband Matthew Ranieri; and daughter-in-law Barbara Ponticello. She was a wonderful and loving "Mom-Mom" to granddaughters, Caitlin Ponticello and Venus & Alexandria Ranieri. She also leaves behind her sister, Angela Scaven, and brother, Tony Rappe, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Her smile, her open arms and caring ways will be sorely missed by her family, friends and neighbors. A viewing will be held on Friday, October 25 from 10:00am- 11:30am at St. Vincent DePaul Church, 5021 Harding Highway, Mays Landing, NJ 08330, with Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:30am. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
