Joyce E Funk
<p>Joyce E. Funk (nee Thompson) of Weymouth Township (formerly of Absecon), age 72, passed away on May 27, 2016. She was born to John & Edna Thompson in Washington, DC January 27, 1944. Attended elementary school in Absecon, graduated from Pleasantville High School, class of 1962, and lived most of her life in Absecon with her husband, Bill Funk.</p><p><br></p><p>Joyce loved taking care of her children, gardening, home and dogs, Jenny and Governor. She enjoyed the wildlife in her yard, the squirrels, chipmunks, and birds. She helped run “Small World Charm and finishing School” with her dear friend, Bernadette Strecker. Joyce enjoyed modeling in her younger years. Joyce was an active member of the Absecon United Methodist Church along with Bill, Jim, and Chad. Joyce and Bill moved to Weymouth Twp., December 2005 to the Oaks of Weymouth. Bill sadly passed away November 2006. Joyce joined the First United Methodist Church of Mays Landing. She became involved in the United Methodist Women and helped with church activities.</p><p><br></p><p>Predeceased by her beloved, Bill, she leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, James McCullough of St. Charles, Missouri and Chad Funk with his wife, Lynn of Weymouth Twp., her beloved grandchildren, Lydia, Patrick, Peter and Loryn McCullough. She is survived also by sisters-in-law, Gail Hott with husband, Jim of Weymouth Twp. And Nancy Jacoby with Bob Esswein of Margate, and her loving little dog, Vidalia.</p><p><br></p><p>Joyce leaves behind many wonderful memories of family and friends, and bids them God’s peace “till we meet again in our heavenly home.”</p><p><br></p><p>A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 10-11 AM at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where services will be held at 11 AM.
