Larry J. Turfus, Sr., 67, of Mays Landing, passed away on April 4, 2013, surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Flint, MI, he served in the US Navy for 4 years and later the Merchant Marines for 5. Larry moved to Mays Landing in 1976. He was a Supervisor for Lenox China and worked in Security for Atlantic City Medical Center. Preceded in death by his son Brian Shaner, he is survived by his three children, Richard Shaner, Larry Turfus Jr., and Melissa Blackledge, their mother Patricia Turfus-Webb, 11 grandchildren, his two sisters Elaine Newman and Marcel Lyscus, and numerous other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 8th, 12:30 pm, at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor, NJ, followed by a celebration of his life at pavilion C in the park.
