Lawrence Gustafson

Lawrence J. Gustafson, "Buddy", of Mays Landing, passed away on June 9, 2010. A lifelong resident of Mays Landing, Buddy played for the Mays Landing Lakers baseball in his early years. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the North Africa and Italy Campaigns with the 12th Air Force. He was a member of VFW Post 220 in Mays Landing and Local 623 Carpenters Union of Atlantic City. Buddy worked for the Atlantic City Racing Association for over 30 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, always hunting and fishing. Predeceased by his wife Helen Gustafson, brother Ernie Gustafson, and sisters Ethel Davis and Vivian Gustafson, he is survived by two children: Linda Deman and her husband Lou and Larry Gustafson and his wife Joyce; three grandchildren: Ernie Deman and wife Gina, Lou Deman and wife Lauren, and Larry R. Gustafson; six great-grandchildren: Troy, Shane, Kailey, Madison, Lou, and Meredith; sister: Doris Lockyer and husband Cliff; brother-in-law Irwin Hoenes; and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Viewings will be held on Monday 6-8 PM, and Tuesday 10-11 AM, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Mays Landing. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to NJ Veterans Memorial Home at Vineland, Attn: Activities Dept., 524 North West Blvd., Vineland, NJ 08360.
