Dr. Lee Ireland, age 71 of E.H.T passed into eternal life on September 8th peacefully at home with his loving wife Regina at his side. Lee was born in Atlantic City and attended local schools. He received his bachelor’s degree from Stockton University, his Masters from Rutgers University, and his Doctorate from Kennedy Western University. Le spent his entire life in public safety. He was a lifetime member of the Scullville Volunteer Fire Company, he worked “a couple thousand fires and other emergency events.” He ran the emergency dispatch center for E.H.T, working closely with police. He became self-employed as an educator of America’s firefighters and first responders. He instructed officer leadership programs for the NFA, and emergency management institute in every state in the Union for 27 years. In the past several years, he wrote and published books on the history of National Fire Academy, as well as the history of the area. He lectured in many historical societies and schools around the state. Lee was predeceased by his parents Jean and Leroy, his sister Marie and step-son Tom. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Regina, his faithful dog Thunder, his loving stepson Rev. Jeffrey Wertz, twin sons Patrick and Michael, stepson Robert, sisters Jean Killian (Bill), Delores Board, and Gloria McDermott, three grandchildren; Amy, Rob and Tom Wertz and one great grandson Zachary, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 20th, 10am at Reformation Lutheran Church, Shore Road, Galloway Twp., NJ. Friends may gather at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Reformation Lutheran Church 633 S. New York Road, Galloway, NJ 08205 or AtlantiCare Hospice, P.O. Box 1626, Pleasantville, NJ 08232.
