Louis A. Roi, Jr. age 82, of Mays Landing, NJ died August 11, 2019. Lou was born February 21, 1937 in South Philadelphia where he spent his childhood and graduated from South Philadelphia High School. He moved to New Jersey as an adult and resided in Stratford NJ with his family. He retired and spent his final years in Mays Landing, NJ with his wife, Dolores.


Lou had a talent and a passion for music. As a child, he was chosen for the All Boys Philadelphia Orchestra as a cello player. As a young adult, he played the upright and electric bass and spent his 20’s touring the country as a professional musician. He continued to play music for his enjoyment into his retirement. Lou had a career as a computer programmer and worked at Stone & Webster Engineering in Cherry Hill and Verizon in Philadelphia. He was also a member of the US Air Force Reserves. He loved aviation and model building and was a dedicated Philadelphia Eagles fan.


Lou was the beloved husband of Dolores Roi (née Buonavolta), loving father to Lynn Roi Stites, Michele Roi (David Hannah IV), David Roi (Kelley), step-father to Fred (Jen) Buonavolta and Chris Buonavolta. He was a devoted grandfather to Krista, Melissa, Julia, Lena, Pierce, David, Georgia, Freddie, Nicole, Sofia & Christopher (Bing). Uncle to Louis Roi. Lou was predeceased by parents Louis & Edith Roi (née Monacello), brother John Roi Sr., sister-in-law Mary Roi, nephew John Roi Jr. and first wife Barbara Roi (née Robinson).


Friends & family are invited to celebrate his life on Friday 8/16 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, at 5021 Harding Way, Mays Landing NJ 08330. Public viewing from 10am to 11am with a mass at 11am.
