Mary Aurelio

Aurelio, Antoinette, 89, of Mays Landing passed away peacefully on March 5, 2009 in the home in which she was born and raised. Antoinette (Toni) was a graduate of Atlantic City High School and Glassboro State College. She was an educator for 44 years. She began her career at the one room English Creek School teaching grades one through five. After three years she moved to the Egg Harbor City Public School system and taught second grade for seven years. She then moved to Dunellen in North Jersey and spent 15 years teaching second grade until returning to Mays Landing in 1966. For 18 years she taught second grade at the Shaner School, retiring in 1984. After retirement she continued to tutor students at the Hess School and taught CCD classes at St. Vincent de Paul School. She was a lifetime parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Church and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was preceded in death by her parents Mary and John Aurelio and her brothers Alfred, Harry, John, and Louis. Surviving to cherish her memory are her brother Fred of Oakland, CA, her sister and brother-in-law Betty and Stanley Kwasnieski of Mays Landing; her three nieces: Lisa Bitler (godchild) and Phyllis Lombardi of Mays Landing and Mary Robinson of Summerfield, FL; many great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and her devoted caregiver Debra Des Bordes. Toni touched the lives of many students and colleagues. She was a loving sister, aunt, and friend. She will always and forever be in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers. A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2009, at 11 AM, at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 114 Route 50, Mays Landing, where friends may gather from 10 AM until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Church Building Fund, 114 Route 50, Mays Landing, NJ 08330.
