Mary A. MacKain (nee DeVries), 53 years old of Egg Harbor Township, NJ passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer (cholangiocarcinoma). Mary was born in Staten Island, NY and moved to Somers Point, NJ where she attended grade school at St. Joseph’s Regional School and graduated Mainland Regional High School in 1979. She was a longtime banker and then bookkeeper at C. Alexander Building & Maintenance. Mary enjoyed crocheting and volunteering her time to many organizations such as Atlantic County 4-H, where she received the Volunteer of The Year Award, St. Katherine Drexel Parish, Yi’s Karate of EHT and for the past 11 years Relay for Life. She is predeceased by her brother Richard “Richie” Devries. Mary is survived by her husband of 27 years Daniel MacKain. Her daughters Christi Smith (Andrew) and Shannon MacKain. Her siblings Joy Hooper (Brad), Barbara Baruti (Benny) and John DeVries. Parents Joan DeVries, Richard DeVries and Marie DeVries and numerous other relatives and friends who adored her. A viewing will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Church of St. Katharine Drexel, 6077 West Jersey Avenue, Egg Harbor Twp., NJ from 9am-11am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am.
