Mary Rathbone Obituary

Mary T. Rathbone, of Mays Landing, passed away Tuesday, November 7th. Born in Audubon, NJ where she met her husband Amos of 36 years, who predeceased her in 1987. She was predeceased by her brothers Bill, Ed, Jack and sister-in-law Laura who were best friends for 80 plus years. Mary is survived by a son Robert Rathbone and his wife Crystal of Mays Landing, a daughter Rose Otis of Lakeland, FL; her grandchildren: Jena Rathbone of Mays Landing, John Fleming of Floral City, FL; a great-grandson Braedon Fleming of Floral City, FL; and many nieces and nephews who adored her greatly. Mary is also survived by her pen pal in England of 63 years. Mary worked as one of the original Bell Telephone operators. She retired from Atlantic County Board of Elections. She was a former Girl Scout Leader. After retiring she moved to Pinellas Park, FL for 16 years before moving to Mays Landing. Mary loved camping, flowers and gardening, crocheting, crafts, bingo at the Senior Center and all her friends. She loved animals, especially dogs, cats, birds and horses. Mary lived a long and beautiful life. She will be greatly missed by all. She is pain and trouble free in heaven with all her family and friends who have already passed. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, November 13, 11 AM, at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 5021 Harding Hwy., Mays Landing, where family and friends may gather from 10 AM until the time of the Mass.
