Maurice Philen

Maurice Philen, “Phil”, 82 of Mays Landing, passed away after an extended illness at home, surrounded by his family on November 2, 2017. Beloved husband of Agnes Philen for 37 years. At the age of 17, he joined the Navy. While serving in the Navy, he was on the baseball and football teams, which played other Navy teams along the eastern coast. Upon discharge, he worked for the Hilton Hotels, starting out as a bellman and working his way up to Manager. In 1979, he came to NJ to work for the Hilton Hotel in Atlantic City and that is where he met his wife Aggie. His life was devoted to his family and his favorite pastime was watching his grandchildren participate in sports, especially football and watching the Alabama Football Team play. Maurice was an outgoing beautiful man. He is predeceased by his parents Oliver and Mabel Philen and son Michael McMunn. Maurice is survived by his wife Agnes Philen, his son William McMunn (Diane) of South Plainfield, NJ, his daughter Allison Reina (Tom) of Mays Landing, NJ; two beautiful sisters Margarette of Pensacola, FL and Jorene (Donald) of Mobile, AL. Also, to grieve his passing are his cherished and beautiful grandchildren, Dr. Andrea McMunn (Gordon) of Elkridge, MD, William McMunn, Jr. (Melinda) of Tampa, FL., Brittany McMunn, Michael McMunn, Jr., Lauren McMunn and Colin Reina of Mays Landing, NJ, three great grandchildren of Tampa FL, three nephews and two nieces. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 10am to 12pm at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing, NJ with a service at 12 Noon. Burial immediately following at Holy Cross Cemetery in Mays Landing. "Roll Tide"
